Welcome to Reflective Hour with Tammy Toney-Butler. I'm your Host and Evangelist, but we all know who the host of this show is and everything that we do, and that's Christ. By way of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, the Spirit of Jesus that lives in us. Oh, Thank you, thank you, thank you, Father. Holy Spirit, come and have Your way in this time that we have together. May they see You and not me, hear You and not me. May they have spiritual ears to hear and eyes to see the Truth and they be set free. Well, Father, put on me an episode today and it's titled, is are you a dumping ground? Are you a dumping ground? Wow. That is a title. Are you a dumping ground? How many of you are picking up spiritual garbage from others? How many of you are listening to things that you should not be listening to? How many of you have fear? Depressed? Because you're watching the news. Twenty-four hour news cycles. Maybe you're scrolling through social media. Systems designed to keep you oppressed. Depressed and in bondage. We don't listen to the world and the world's truth. We are not of this world. We are in this world, but not of this world. Some of you need to stop listening to things that bring you down, that worsen your feelings of inadequacy. You are a daughter or son of the King. You are royalty as a believer on the Lord Jesus Christ, His death on the cross. that he rose again, that he seated in heavenly places to the right of the Father. He came to earth fully man, fully God, and he was obedient unto death. How many of you are obedient? How many of you, when convicted by your spirit, are still listening to certain music, watching TV programs, going to places that you know you shouldn't be going to, surrounding yourself with people that drain you spiritually, that aren't believers, that are leading you down the wrong path. We have to choose this season what we allow ourselves others to dump into us. We're not spiritual garbage cans. We're royalty. We have to control what goes in our ear and eye gate because we are to strive for righteousness, a holy living. We are to resemble Christ and be transformed layer by layer. And if you want to go deeper, God, if you want to grow closer to God, we have to let go of the things of the world, crucify our flesh, put under our sin nature, and recognize that the Holy Spirit gives us the ability to be molded and shaped like little Jesuses walking around. resembling Christ, showing Christ to a dark and dying world. But that comes with you making a decision. Are you gonna follow the world? Are you gonna follow God by the Spirit of God? Are you gonna be led by the Spirit of God? That requires time in the secret place, waking up first thing in the morning and putting God first getting up early before you go to work and devoting your time to sitting alone with him in a secret place and waiting on him to speak to you, speak to you through his word, speak to you with a rhyme of words, speak to you. For you to surrender and commit your day to God and say, nevertheless, Father, not my will be done, but yours. We have to have a heart posture, a heart posture. that is surrendered and obedient, full of humility and ready to serve our Lord Jesus Christ, wherever his spirit leads us, whatever trail we're led on, wherever he tells us to go, we have to be willing and ready. We have to be pure, striving, to resemble Jesus in character, loving our neighbor as ourself, loving God with all our heart, leaning not on our own understanding. When we believed on Jesus truly and surrendered and come under his lordship, then we had an encounter and we're never the same and realize that we were nothing but filthy rags, sinners that He died to set free. And we realize that in our own strength, we do nothing, but it is in His righteousness, His grace, His mercy. We don't do anything to earn it, but we should resemble Christ. If people look at us and they see the world in us. Are we truly representing the kingdom of God? They should look at us and think, man, there's something different about them. Yes, we are called to spread the gospel on the streets, in the bars, in the shopping malls, in the marketplace. We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus. but we're not to dwell in these places of sin. We're not to live in Sodom and Gomorrah. We're to let go. Let God transform us layer by layer, letting go of the things of this world, of the material possessions of this world that are going to pass away. But God's love, never passes away. It's an everlasting, eternal love that gives us divine health as long as we obey and surrender to God's will and not our own. So I ask you this question. He's asking you this question. Are you going to continue to be a dumping ground to where individuals put their garbage into you or dump their garbage into you. There are some people in this season that you need to prune out of your life because every time you're around them, you feel like your spirit man is dying. You feel like they're suffocating you, taking your very breath. And God has been trying to tell you to prune away everything those relationships. You cannot continue to try to heal around the brokenness of yesterday in the places and the people that broke you in the beginning, or that your old sinful self before you became a believer dwelled in. You have to come out of the world and out of those places and be fortified and strengthen in your spirit man and transform layer by layer by layer. And then, and then and only then, when God calls you back to those places that once afflicted you, but now you're called to go back to transform them, to bring his light, his power and authority into those dark places. and break those demonic strongholds off, and transform a nation and a world. He will call you back, but you must be strong enough and fortified in him, hedged in and surrounded by the rock, built on the rock, surrounded by his truth, his protection, and have the authority that only comes through relationship to back you Because as you advance and try to advance the kingdom of God on earth, following God's will and not your own, the spiritual warfare can be great, but our God is bigger and greater and we have the tools to overcome. But first we have to be cultivated. We have to be pruned. We have to be built. go through a breaking and remaking process in order to step out and into all He has for us. You just can't step right into the palace or right on a platform. I've been going through a process with God for about ten years now. I've been in desert places, in the wilderness, I've been crying out. I have been broken and remade. And I've gotten so much junk out of my trunk that I didn't even know was still in there. But it was through trial after trial, dying to self, dying to self, calling out to God in the secret place, pruning myself of everything of this world. I don't watch television. Very, very rarely do I ever watch television. I don't listen to the news. I don't allow anything in my eye and ear gate that's not praise and worship music. I don't watch certain videos. I don't let just every pastor or prophetic voice pour into me. I'm truly led by the Spirit of God and spend my time getting to know Him. And him showing me areas where I need to change. Bringing people into my life to where I need a word from them or a gentle word of correction. But I haven't done any of this in my own strength. It's all been through the Spirit. The Holy Spirit that's inside of me. Jesus died to give us that comforter. to have his spirit working with us, advocating on our behalf, helping us. And it is with that spirit that you overcome the forces of darkness and become new creatures in Christ Jesus. ready to be sent out into all the world to spread the gospel. But you have to spend some time in the waiting room, in the olive press, waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting. Watch Who you let in your circle this season? Who you let pour into you? Are they building you up or tearing you down? Are they filling you with spiritual garbage? Are they filling you with the light and the truth that liberates, redeems, restores, strengthens, And that's the episode of Reflective Hour that the Holy Spirit has for you today.
