Beneath the Surface

Welcome to this episode of Reflective Hour. I'm Tammy Toney-Butler, your host. But we all know who the host of this show is, and that's Christ by way of His Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth that resides within us, that strengthens us, that protects us, that's our helper. Always our helper. Jesus died on the cross, rose again, and is seated in heavenly places to the right of the Father. And he sent His Holy Spirit to dwell inside of us, to dwell inside of us. But I ask you this day when you look beneath the surface, what spiritual blockage, what spiritual heart condition is affecting you, is hindering your growth as a Christian, hindering you from moving from milk to meat? What is affecting your growth? Are you affecting your growth? Are you standing in the way of your breakthrough? Are you self-sabotaging yourself? What is it? What blockage? What's hindrance do you need to get rid of so that you can receive all that God has for you?

Is it shame, guilt, fear, regret, depression, addiction, unforgiveness, anger, comparison syndrome, pride, ego, covetness? What is it that's in you that needs to get out of you so that you can step into all God has for you this season? So that you can embrace your healing journey. So that you can believe that you are worthy of God's love, of his protection, and of his salvation. Salvation is a gift. You don't have to do anything to receive it. You only have to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and that He died on the cross and rose again, was born to the Virgin Mary, fully God, fully man. And nobody gets to the Father but through the Son. And you just have to remember the truth of John 3:16. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Life starts with you laying down your old self and believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. And with that same faith, you ask His Holy Spirit to live inside of you to make you fresh and new. And you believe that the Spirit of Jesus, the Holy Spirit lives inside of you. The Spirit of the Almighty God because He was fully God and fully man dwells inside of you. And it is that Spirit, that Holy Spirit, that mighty rushing wind that came at Pentecost that's inside of you that's going to work in and through you and it's going to help you. You're going to say, "Holy Spirit, help me. I believe that You're inside of me. Holy Spirit, I need you. You're my helper. You're my helper. You're my helper. I need you to help me. Set me free of addiction. Make it the moment I want to touch that glass of wine or that that vodka or that tequila that I want to throw up. Make it to where I get sick physically every time. I want to touch cocaine. I want to touch fentanyl. I want to touch that drug, that oxy, that Roxy. Make it to where I want to vomit. Make me physically ill, Holy Spirit. I don't ever want it again. Give me the strength, Holy Spirit, to seek out treatment, to go into a recovery program. Give me the strength to heal. Give me the strength that I need to let go of shame. Help me to let go of shame. Oh, Holy Spirit, help me to forgive myself. Help me, Holy Spirit. Help me to forgive others who've hurt me. Help me, Holy Spirit. I don't want anger in my heart. I don't want bitterness. I don't want pride and ego. Help me, Holy Spirit. Purge me of anything not of you, oh God. I want the heart of Christ free of spiritual blockages. I want the mindset of Christ to where I know I'm free because he who the Son sets free is free indeed. He who the son sets free is free indeed. And remember in John 7 starting in 21, Jesus is talking about a circumcision. And you skip down to 24 and it says, "Look beneath the surface so you can judge correctly." Many of us need a spiritual circumcision. We need God, the Holy Spirit to help us cut away anything that's blocking our growth, to remove those plackages, those spiritual blockages that are keeping us from the Word of God entering us, penetrating us, changing us from the inside out. And it starts with us believing on the bloodshed on Calvary, Lord Jesus's work on the cross that reconciled us to Abba Father to where we can enter into a close relationship with Him and we can be forever changed. So I invite you today to look beneath the surface to see what's blocking your spiritual growth, what's blocking your recovery, what's blocking your success, what's blocking you from stepping into all God has for you. And ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the areas in your life that you need healing. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal relationships that you need to let go of and prune out of your life so that you can step into all God has for you. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you. Ask God to close any door that's not of him and to open wide the doors that are of him. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you not sabotage your own healing. I pray all the time, Father, don't let me stop what you have for me. Get me out of the way, God. Nevertheless, not my will but yours be done, oh God. And I enter into that place of complete humility and surrender before God, before God, the only God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our precious Lord Jesus. I enter into that perfect place of spiritual rest and obedience because that says, "I trust you, Daddy. I trust you, Father. You're a good Father. You'll never leave me nor forsake me. You sent your Son to die for me and it is by His blood and by His stripes I've been healed. I believe it. I receive it. I walk in it. And this day I am a new creature, a new creation in Christ Jesus. Look beneath the surface. Don't be afraid to heal. Perfect love cast out all fear. And you don't have the spirit of fear. You have the Spirit of Faith. You have the Spirit of Faith. You have the Spirit of Faith.
